Day 218: February 11, 2021
Today started with a blocked bathroom sink and I had the sinking (pun intended) feeling that it was going to be another one of those days. However, that was not at all the case.
After sorting the drain (not as easy as I’d hoped but I got there in the end), I settled at the laptop. It was an exceptionally quiet morning at work, so I thought I’d spend a bit of time cheekily writing.
What a morning it turned out to be.
I wrote just over 2000 words and completed the chapter I’d been stuck on. Now that I’d got my backstory, the words flowed out and I was able to write the whole chapter relatively easily. I say easily, I actually found it quite emotional as it was a sad story but as I knew where I was going with it, I was able to press on.
Writing that much has tipped me over the 40,000 word barrier, so despite some periods where I have struggled to write, I have added another 10,000 words in just under a month. I am buzzing with that. Still an awful long way to go but progress is progress.
Today I was featured in Frances Caballo’s weekly Book Marketing Update email, which was fabulous. It drove a bit of traffic to the featured blog post being
Designing Your Author Platform: A Guide to Get Results, which was great although I did spend too much time watching the real time tracking on Google Analytics. I was also surprised to see a visit from Jupiter though it would appear I’ve not gone intergalactic yet, it’s actually a place in the US – who knew?
I managed to write a little more in the evening but I was feeling a little rough for some reason, so decided to have a chilled night reading instead of pushing the words too much. I finished the day with 2315 words in the bag which is my best writing day to date.
